Q: Does Hancock Fire Department Fill Swimming Pools? 
A: Yes, we fill swimming pools for residents of the Town of Hancock only. We fill pools by donation and suggest at least a $50 donation to help cover fuel and maintenance costs, however a higher donation is always appreciated. Although we get our water from a fairly clean source, we do have a waiver to sign that states you understand the water you receive is not necessarily clean and is not potable. 

Q: Why can't I burn with a permit from 9a.m. - 5p.m. during the week even if the fire danger is low or moderate?
A: We are a Volunteer Department and most of our members work daytime jobs which limits our manpower during those hours if the fire were to get out of control. 

Q: I want to join the Fire Department but I don't want to go into burning buildings, can I still help?
A: Yes! There are many, many roles that members can do without going into a burning building, on scene and behind the scenes. We also provide EMS services and are more than happy to help and pay for you to get your EMT license.
